Ugandan heroin smuggled inside body held by IGI

New Delhi, April 12 (SocialNews.XYZ) A Ugandan national has been arrested for smuggling nearly 100 capsules containing heroin, worth more than Rs 6 crore, by concealing them inside his body, customs officials said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Dickson Twijukye, landed at the IGI on March 31 while he was placed under arrest on April 9 after the capsules were recovered from his body during an operation.


A customs officer said the accused was intercepted as he crossed the green channel and approached the exit door of the international arrivals hall. His hand luggage was checked but nothing suspicious was found. However, during a medical examination, it was discovered that material was secreted inside his body.

“A medical procedure resulted in the recovery of 99 capsules resulting in the recovery of a total of 921 grams of the off-white colored substance which was found to be heroin with an international market value of Rs 6,447 crore,” the customs official said.
