Two men found in Seville with 5,000 packs of cigarettes in their arrested vehicle for contraband tobacco
Two people were arrested by the National Police in the Sevillian municipality of Camas. They were found driving a vehicle loaded with 5,000 packs of cigarettes and were charged with the crime of contraband tobacco.
According to a statement released by the National Police on Thursday, February 3, the incident happened on January 25. During a police check that had been set up in Concejal Alberto Jimenez Becerril street, officers from the local Camas police station intercepted a vehicle occupied by two people, who later tried to evade the police.
Once the car, owned by the father of one of the detainees, was immobilized, the agents discovered and seized 5,000 packets of tobacco. They each bore a Tax Agency stamp and were hidden in the trunk of the detained car.
This merchandise has a market value of €20,400 on the street. For this reason, the two people were arrested for the crime of contraband tobacco. An investigation is said to be underway by the national police to determine the origin of the seized tobacco products, as reported diariodesevilla.es.
