If you want to buy Hades on disc for Xbox Series X or Xbox One in India, you are out of luck. According to publisher Private Division, these versions of Supergiant’s roguelike hit completely skip the country. Hades has been announced for release on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One retail during E3 2021.
“The Xbox retail version will not come to India,” read an email from the publisher. IGN India has contacted the game’s distributor, E-xpress for comment and will update this story if we hear from the company.
This means that if you want to play Hades your options on Xbox include digital purchase or through Xbox Game Pass. For a company that claims to offer gamers gaming options, it’s funny how many games on Microsoft’s platforms end up ignoring India altogether. Hades on Xbox joins the likes of Metro Exodus, Monster Hunter World Iceborne, and Nier Replicant to name a few titles that have failed on Microsoft consoles.
Private Division is likely to focus on 90 percent of Indian console gamers who are on PS4 and PS5, although Microsoft has been much more consistent in introducing Xbox Series X consoles in the country compared to Sony. You can’t even officially buy a PS4 in India right now, let alone a PS5. Having said that, the Hades India price for PS5 and PS4 is Rs. 1,999. Not too bad considering the cost of parallel imports from Hades to Nintendo Switch, more than double the price.
Hades will be released on August 13, 2021 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
